Application Details:

The 2023 Washington International Festival includes performance and competition in two editions: youth and professional. Each edition also includes an online and in-theater performance/competition. Online edition is for applicants who are not planning to travel to Washington DC for this year in-theater performance. Selected online applicants’ work will be live streamed at City Dance Festival LIVE online channel. In-theater performance/competition applicants finalists will be invited to perform on stage in Washington, DC, July 28-29, 2023. 

Online and in-theater applicants will be separated for the selection process. Both editions’ finalists and award winners will receive certificates. Both editions’ finalists‘ works will be collected into the City Dance Festival International invitational pool. All the works in the invitational pool will have the chance to be selected to present at City Dance Festival International partner festivals and future events. 

Conditions

For professional edition: 

Choreographers must have professional training. 

Contemporary/Modern works are accepted. 

University dance major students may apply. 

Solo/duet must not exceed 6 minutes; groups must not exceed 8 minutes. 

Each choreographer may submit up to two works. Separate application forms and video links are required.

Incomplete materials or those exceeding the time limits listed above will not be processed.

Professional recordings are not required; rehearsal videos are accepted. 

All finalists are responsible for travel arrangements and other related expenses.

Application fee: $25 per piece 

Finalists announced: 

By May 1, 2023 

Both youth and professional editions in theater competitions and performance awards will be announced at the ceremony on July 29, 2023. 

Online edition awards will be announced at www.CityDanceFestival.org by August 7th.
